For the those of you who have spent this much of your lives being deprived of knowing his music, let’s just say that whenever anyone tries to get him here - to set up a concert or invite him to participate in such as Pete Seeger’s 90th birthday celebration - our government feels he’s just too big a threat.

But before you cry out in exasperation that this is silly, stop to consider: they’re completely right. Silvio engaging the U.S. population would threaten imperialism’s web of lies. It would have to make one wonder: How could any revolution that is represented by a man of such beauty and brilliance be the ogre we’re told it is?

More than any any other musician, Silvio represents his people’s revolution. (He’s an elected member of the national parliament.) Yet his compositions are anything but political lectures set to music; when we’re blessed with translations, we might find him singing about flowers, butterflies, rifles, nightmares, unicorns, sweat, Che, or ice cream.

He’s Cuba’s foremost cultural ambassador to c, and finally he’s coming here.

Tickets range from $50 to $150 and we hope to get a group or two together (depending on how much people want to spend) and get discounts. Let us know about how many people you think might come with you and about how much you want to spend. Early estimates would be helpful, even if you’re not yet sure.
